I honestly don't see the big deal about someone's sexual orientation in the military. I don't think it has anything to do with a person's ability and skills to do their job, or has any effect on morale.
I see not allowing people to enter military service due to their sexual orientation as discrimination, pure and simple. Should they decide that women can't serve any more because male soldiers may be attracted to them? Or maybe soldiers with different religious views should be discharged. Who gets to decide what is acceptable?
I guess my way of thinking is that if someone is courageous enough and has the desire to stand up and say they will fight for our country, freedom and endure all the things that the military asks of them, they should be allowed to do so, regardless of sexual orientation.
Chase,
I fully agree that someone's sexual orientation shouldn't make a difference at all to whether they can become a soldier or not! All I know is that it takes a very special person to become a soldier and nothing should stop them from becoming a soldier. Someone's sexual orientation doesn't make them a lesser person and we are meant to have all been born equal!
I agree if you want to serve our great country it shouldn't matter. After all they allow aliens to serve and give them citizenship to boot for serving. Why not; its time to stop the division of people in this country.
